Startup Digest Zurich

The personalized insider newsletter for all things startup in Zurich.

Good morning, Zurich startups and entrepreneurs!
If you’re a parent with children in school, this week might bring some much-needed relief as the school year draws to a close. For other parents, it might raise the spectre of a stressful summer at home with no schooling to occupy their children for most of the day.
This newsletter will go into summer hibernation mode 🏝 Not many events happening and I’ll take some time off as well 😎 See you all in August!
Have a great summer, and stay well!

The Switzerland Founder Institute, the local chapter of the world’s largest pre-seed startup accelerator, is proud to announce the newest Alumni from the Switzerland Spring 2021 program.
Over 220 people applied to the program, and after an intense four months of aggressive business-building sprints and constant evaluation and feedback from investors and mentors, just six companies were able to make it through.
Have you ever wondered why the Business Model Canvas spread like wildfire? To me, the answer is clear. It’s a simple, visual tool that communicates the key elements of a business model on one sheet of paper.
Think about that. How many of you could have articulated what a business model was before the canvas was available? I’m sure most of us would have mumbled something along the lines of, “it’s how a business makes money…” But we’d be wrong. That’s a revenue model.
The business model canvas defines the 9 key elements, and it does all of this on one page. That’s powerful. That’s the power of a map.
I fully realize it’s a balancing act between the need for ethically testing demand versus launching something that nobody cares about, but it is my hope that we can push these ideas forward without causing undue harm in the process.
