85. The 9 Attitudes of Mindfulness
9 Attitudes - Jon Kabat Zinn
9 Attitudes - Jon Kabat Zinn
Mindfulness is a conscious way of experiencing the world, internal and external, being present to what is happening.
Jon Kabat-Zinn explains 9 core attitudes that can help us maintain this observant presence:
  1. Beginner’s mind
  2. Non-judging
  3. Acceptance
  4. Letting Go
  5. Trust
  6. Patience
  7. Non-Striving
  8. Gratitude
  9. Generosity
“Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally.” Jon Kabat-Zinn
86. Understanding Zen, Your Nature
Zen: An Introduction
Zen: An Introduction
In this short and clear introduction to what Zen is, we can understand its context and how it can help us live in the present.
“Zen is not access to some other reality but to realize the true nature of this reality right here and now undistorted by our projections and concepts about it”.
(…) Zen in its essence is the art of seeing into the nature of one’s own being.“
”(..) perhaps the greatest Japanese Zen master summarized the Zen path in a very short and simple way:
to study Buddhism is to study yourself
to study yourself is to forget yourself
to forget yourself is to realize your intimacy with all things".
87. Awakening Is Not a Serious Business
Eckhart Tolle - Laughter is Important
Eckhart Tolle - Laughter is Important
In this video Eckhart Tolle explains how and why laughter is so important and how it can help to break the Ego barriers.
“Laughter (..) is very liberating, particularly to laugh at the human condition and to laugh at one’s own mind patterns because it implies that you’ve taken one step back and have seen your own patterns.
(..) your own drama it’s produced by the mind patterns and when you recognize drama as drama it becomes also funny”.
“Awakening, so, is not a serious business. If you make it serious then you’ve gone astray somewhere and the mind is trying to do something”.
Note: at minute 7 there is a particularly funny moment. Enjoy it.
