Trip to San Diego
I spent last weekend in San Diego working with our partners and friends at Blue Dot Education. I got to hang out in the High Tech High building made famous in Most Likely to Succeed. For two days we discussed the future of education and made a plan for how we’re going to start small and initiate change. It was powerful to be surrounded by an abundance of student work. In many ways, High Tech High represents what a school should look like. Everywhere you turn there is art, construction, poetry and more all written by kids grappling with relevant topics like equity, identity and environment.
Along with tons of intellectually stimulating conversation, I also had the pleasure of hanging out in San Diego in 80 degree weather.
I’m excited to say that I finally went surfing on the west coast! On Sunday night we went to Pacific Beach and surfed until it was too dark to see the waves. It was a beautiful experience.

Dual School Updates
We’re in the midst of four exciting projects. We have 9 students experiencing Dual School as a class at William Penn High School. We have 11 students who come to 1313 Innovation in Wilmington every week for Dual School. All 20 of these students will showcase their work on December 11 at 5:00pm at 1313 Innovation!
We have 15 students at Design Thinking Academy who are partnered with the Brandywine Zoo to identify opportunities and prototype ways to address them.
Lastly, we just hired 10 teens for the Warehouse project. These are teens from Wilmington that we worked with over the summer. They are back to level up professionally and lead the way as designers of the next prototype of the Warehouse launching in January.
Thanks for reading!
