We all know that strong
executive function and self-regulation skills can provide young people with critical learning and development supports. We also know that while we are not born with these skills, we all possess the potential to develop them. In this issue, I’ve compiled resources that outline the impact of metacognition and self-regulation on youth development, provide accessible definitions of these complex concepts, and offer insights on how educators, youth workers, and other caring adults can help youth develop these competencies.
