Whither wool? Studio Miranda - Issue #7

The knitting season is in full swing, and I’ve barely caught my breath all month. Between releasing new Lost in the Woods patterns every few days, and the Ravelry Indie Design Gift-A-Long, November has kept me running. I love the energy of this time, having wool on my mind every minute (so… nothing new there then), but I’m also looking forward to the end of the year, with a week or so of peace and time to reflect. 2016 has been a doozy.

Knitting's out. Knitting's in. Whither wool?
The Noughties knitting boom has long been over in the US, and more recently in the UK. After the shock announcement earlier this year that Coats was to shut down its British business, including the treasured Rowan consultants in department stores, reports that John Lewis was to downgrade its haberdashery departments felt like another inevitable nail in the coffin – but apparently that’s not happening after all! Meanwhile in Europe, I’m seeing knitting everywhere.
KOEL isn't "the new standard", but it's nice
Wool is all around
Local sourcing is the trend
Germany catches on to green wool
Daughter of a Shepherd labels
Local is lekker!
Last chance for discounts!
Two special offers end tomorrow night. From 1 December, Lost in the Woods will sell for the full price of €25, so if you’ve been waiting to make up your mind, now’s a good time! There’s just one more pattern still to come – due early next year – but so many designs to tempt you already. The Gift-A-Long sale period also ends at midnight EST on 30 November, although the GAL party continues for the rest of the year.
And finally
If you’re watching the Gilmore Girls revival, you should check out these patterns for knits worn in the show (I bet those scarves caught your eye). Or if you prefer music while you work, Radiooooo will take you on a globe-hopping, time-travelling jazzy journey. It’s my new favourite thing. (Thanks to Miranda’s Lounger Courtney for the tip!)
I’ll be back in two weeks with a whole bunch of covetable ideas for your last-minute Christmas list (not just for knitters).
Did you enjoy this issue?
