Here’s a look at what’s happening, new, and to do out there…

  • Sunny, with a high near 45.
  • The Special Legislative Commission to Study and Evaluate the Impact of “Project Sustainability” in the State of Rhode Island will be meeting this Tuesday, November 13 at 3:00 pm in the Senate Lounge of the State House. The commission is chaired by Sen. Louis P. DiPalma (D-Dist. 12, Middletown, Little Compton, Newport, Tiverton)
Events Happening Today for Veterans Day
  • Candlelight Concert of Remembrance: In observance of the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day at Zabriskie Memorial Church of Saint John the Evangelist, featuring Douglas Guest’s “For the Fallen” and Brahms’ “A German Requiem.” With professional choristers of the Choir School of Newport County, St. John’s Adult Choir, Trinity Church Choir and guests Eden Casteel, soprano; Dennis Ryan, baritone; Melissa Woolverton and John Norigian, duo pianists; Charles Kalajian, tympani; Grant Randall, trombone; Giles Brightwell, organ/conductor, and Peter Stoltzfus Berton,conductor. 4 p.m. $15, seniors/students $10. ,
  • Newport: Veterans Day Remembrance, in observance of the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. Guest preacher at Emmanuel Church is Cmdr. Micah Sybor; guest officiant is the Rev. Norman MacLeod. Remembrance includes tolling of the bells. Veterans and active-duty service members and their families especially invited. 8 and 10 a.m. Free parking in lot across from church.
  • Ceremony at Portsmouth Town Hall. At 9 am, Prof. Richard James Norton talks about the World War I centennial. Outdoor wreath laying after ceremony.
  • Bells of Peace Ceremony at Thriving Tree Coffee House in Portsmouth at 11 am. Attendees asked to assemble no later than 10:45 in preparation for the tolling of a bell 21 times at 11 a.m.
