Good Morning, Newport
Hello and Good Morning. Today is Sunday, January 27th.
  • As of Saturday evening, the City of Newport reported that the restoration and re-lighting process is fully underway, with over 600 National Grid service technicians going house-to-house to restore gas service throughout the City.
  • Over the next few days, National Grid will be contacting impacted customers with an automated call when crews are ready to enter their neighborhoods to begin the re-light process.
  • All Newport Public Schools are expected to open tomorrow.
  • Just a reminder to check on your neighbors. It’s been a long week, we could all probably use a hello, hug, or “how are you”.
  • Speaking of, if you have heat - there’s no better time than now to “love thy neighbor”. Have a neighbor over who doesn’t have heat, I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.
We’re almost through this, hang in there.
