City Calendar This Week: There will be a Newport School Committee Special Meeting tonight at 5 pm, a Newport School Committee workshop with State Legislators tonight at 6 pm, Zoning Board of Review meeting at 7 pm this evening, Newport School Committee School Building Subcommittee meeting on Tuesday at 5:30 pm, and City Council meeting at 6:30 pm on Wednesday.
Green Book won best picture last night at the 2019 Oscars, Director Peter Farrelly graduated from Providence College, was raised in Cumberland, Rhode Island, and gave a “thank you to the entire state of Rhode Island” during last night’s acceptance speech.
Speaking of the Oscars, that 128.54 carat necklast that Lady Gaga was wearing, it was last worn by Audrey Hepburn and before that, Mrs. Sheldon Whitehouse at the 1957 Tiffany Ball held in Newport.
