This & That
  • School Starts today for Newport Public Schools, best of luck to all those heading back to school (and you parents).
  • There will be “fireworks” at the next City Council meeting - there are three applications for firework displays, and an update to the fireworks displays ordinance on the agenda.
  • Some early lobster poll results - Karen says her favorite lobster place is Abbott’s in Noank, CT. Bob says he heads for Newport Lobster Shack when he wants a whole lobster and Easton’s Beach when he’s in the mood for a lobster roll , and our buddy Jim from Narragansett Beer reminds us to make sure we have some Narragansett Fresh Catch (which has a big ol’ lobster on the can) while enjoying lobster. Have a favorite lobster place or dish? Let us know!
  • Middletown - Wapping Road paving is scheduled for Friday 9/6 from Riverview Ave to Peckham Ave. Expect delays and detours. Paving is scheduled for Acacia Dr, William Dr, Perry Ave, Reservoir Rd, Peckham Ave, Third Beach Rd, Rosedale Ct and Underwood Ln. September 9th - 20th.
