Good Morning,
Today is Friday, August 30th. Here’s the latest from What'sUpNewp and a look at what’s happening, new, and to do in and around Newport today…
  • No Swimming: Hazard Beach, Gooseberry Beach, and Fort Adams State Park Beach remain closed to swimming due to high bacteria levels.
  • Correction: Yesterday morning we stated that City Council had passed a resolution that included language that food trucks could not operate within 500 feet of restaurants, that number is actually 250 feet. Read more about the ordinance here.
  • Job Opp: Portsmouth is now accepting applications for fire fighters.
  • Tip Line: Middletown short term rental tip line now available to report activity related to short term rental nuisances and violations.
  • Labor Day: City Hall and offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2nd in observance of Labor Day.  Please note that the Waste Management Transfer Station will also be closed and as a result there will be a one-day collection delay for all trash, recycling, yard waste and bulk waste sticker appointments/pickups.
  • Nostalgia: Yesterday on Facebook we asked Which Newport restaurant no longer with us do you miss the most? We’ve seen more than 380 comments, take a walk down memory lane and add your own comment here.
