Happy new year! Now that 2016 is behind us, it is a good time to look back at the biggest trends on Chinese social media of the past year. We have compiled an A-Z overview of 2016, from the Alipay scandal to Baidu controversies.
Over the past week Chinese netizens have been talking more of the gray skies than the new year. The smog alert even caused a major highway to become a temporary parking space - check out the surreal aerial pictures in this article.
Perhaps you’ve heard about ’funeral strippers’ before - they became a much-talked-about topic in 2015 when China’s ministry of culture put a halt to the phenomenon.
