Pushbacks , Violence and Greece's Border Policy

Hello there,
In April 2020 Amnesty International and many others documented how, in the midst of escalating political tensions with Turkey, Greece systematically used “pushbacks” and committed other human rights abuses to prevent people from entering the EU.
Months later, pushbacks continue to regularly trample migrants and refugees’ rights, despite systematic official denials and aided by a climate of impunity. Amnesty’s new research documents 21 new pushback incidents and other abuses occurring between June and December 2020, based on the testimonies of 16 individuals.
Also, few days ago, a Dutch journalist reporting on the inhumane conditions people on the move face in Greece and her Afghan translator, an asylum seeker, was arrested on the Greek island of Hydra because the journalist had provided shelter to the young man. Reportedly, the journalist has to appear in court in October and faces a fine or imprisonment.
