📍⚡️ Where are you? (New feature alert!)
By Pedro Wunderlich • Issue #26 • View online
Two weeks ago we launched a HUGE update with 300+ new exercises and 74 new routines. If you haven’t done so, get it now!
After such a huge release, you’d think we take a looong vacation. NOPE! We’re on a mission to create the most fun exercise app ever. So we’ve switched gears and are now working on… an even BIGGER update! BAM!
Read below for details.

📍 Where are you?
If you haven’t noticed, Wakeout is all about on-location exercises. If you’re in bed, there’s exercises you can do there. If you’re at work, we’ve got you covered. Chilling at the park? Yep, a ton of exercises ready for you.
Why is this important? Because staying active is hard.
We believe that if we make exercise a compulsive behavior you do wherever you get the urge to, it’s more likely that you’ll do it. Instead of having to drive to a gym, or whip out gym clothes, you just do it right there and then, wherever you are.
The right exercise at the right place / time
In figuring out what to build next for Wakeout, we realized that we need to figure out a better way to serve you the right exercise when you need it. With over 600 exercises and 13 situations in our catalogue (and much more to come!), it’s time we rethink the entire dynamic.
Where are you? That is the question!
We start off by asking you where you are. By letting you select your location before anything else, we’ll be able to better suggest awesome exercises you can do at your spot…
Next, you’ll be able to customize the kind of exercise you’re ready to do. And it’s not just the length of the exercise, you’ll be able chose if you want a relaxing exercise, something to energize you, an intense workout to sweat a little, or something silly to have fun with.
With just a few taps, you’ll quickly setup a fun workout that suits your location, your time and your mood.
This means you’ll spend less time deciding which exercise to do, and more time improving your health, mood and energy levels.
😔 We're sunsetting the "Active Day" feature
Despite our best intentions, the Active Day feature never took off.
The idea behind it was solid, but the execution was poor. The goal was to encourage people to reach a minimum amount of exercise (20 minutes according to the American Heart Association). But it confused people, having the opposite effect. People didn’t know what to do or where to go. So we’re saying goodbye to Active Day in favor of a more direct approach.
For those of you who actually did enjoy the feature, please reply to this email and let us know what was it you liked the most about it.
The goal is still the same: how can we get people to workout more.
We think the new approach will achieve just that.
