[Vectr Weekly #30] What's so great about questions?

Before I get to the answer, perhaps we’ll start with another question: are you familiar with Archimedes? He possessed one of the greatest minds in ancient Greece. He was a polymath and excelled in mathematics, physics, astronomy, and philosophy. He discovered some of the foundational principles of density, optics, and perhaps most notably, leverage. With regards to this last subject, Archimedes said,

A lever is a simple device that consists of a long bar or plank that rotates about a fixed point, known as a fulcrum.

Using a lever, it’s possible to greatly reduce the effort required to move a heavy load.

We believe that the ability to ask good questions is one such lever. You might say it’s a “tipping point” skill in that it enhances your abilities in virtually every domain. Asking thoughtful questions makes you a better friend, scholar, business partner, conversationalist, and a better lover.

For this reason, threaded conversations and comments do not exist on Vectr in a traditional sense. Once a question has been answered, the only way to continue the discussion is to ask another question. And it’s not to say that the experience is perfect and won’t change over time, but it will always be centered around the act of asking questions.
