# 5. A STEADY HAND
written after the news, the papers and a poem

I imagined them
standing at the shore. (What kind of shore? Sand, rocks, harbor, cliff?)
I imagined the captain
taking them on. (Big, kind and bearded? Mean and frightening?)
I imagined the darkness
and how that was a good thing. And how scared they must have been and how hopeful at the same time. Is hope always bigger than fear? Or do they keep each other in balance? I suspect that as a species we have a bigger capacity for hope. (hold on, my love hold on, better days to come)
Recorded at The Tracking Room Studio in Amsterdam with Sjaak Thissen on bass, Marjolein van der Klauw on backing vocals, Sin Banoviç on drums, Sander Donkers on guitar and David Kops on piano. Enginering & mix: Maarten Tap. Video by Sabijn Peeters.
Love, Christine / VanWyck
