🎁 Valentin's Present

November 25 · Issue #13 · View online
The best content I've ever found. Mouthwatering concepts, tempting questions, juicy books, delicious songs, exquisite short films, and other surprises.

For those that celebrated Thanksgiving, hope you had a great one :).

Provoking Picture
This is one of the pictures in a book I came across yesterday called A Velocity of Being. Description:
“In these pages, some of today’s most wonderful culture-makers — writers, artists, scientists, entrepreneurs, and philosophers — reflect on the joys of reading, how books broaden and deepen human experience, and the ways in which the written word has formed their own character. On the page facing each letter, an illustration by a celebrated illustrator or graphic artist presents that artist’s visual response.”
I was so ready to buy it but found it it isn’t released until Dec 31st, so I pre-ordered it.
Mouthwatering Concepts
If we were all buddhists, life would end when the sun burns out.
Fun, thought-provoking short story that introduces this concept.

The Last Question short story — an incredible short story by Isaac Asimov (1956) essentially trying to predict human history millions of years into the future.

Tempting Questions
What would you stop doing if you only had a year left to live? What would you start doing if you had 1,000 years to live?

Juicy Books
Link. Great last lecture turned into a book of a CS professor who was diagnosed with cancer and had a couple of months to live. It’s about “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams” and other things he wanted to share in his real “last lecture” to students/the world.

Exquisite Short Film
what is free basing - with Dean Potter
Recently watched the Free Solo movie/documentary and it was great. There was a super short clip they showed during the movie that wasn’t even about Alex Honnold but I was in awe because I thought the clip wasn’t “free basing”.
Anyways, I highly recommend Free Solo. Here’s a 10minute NYT feature about how Alex climbed El Capitan — 3,000 feet — without ropes, on camera.

Finger-licking Quote
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” — C S Lewis

Re Human Stories
Delicious Music
One Self - Bluebird
Bluebird by One Self is such a timeless groove. For similar vibes taste my Risotto playlist.
