I’m keeping things short and sweet this week. Although we don’t celebrate July 4th in the UK I used it as an excuse to take a long weekend holiday. So I’m typing this out on a train. If the images are weirdly sized it’s because my fingers aren’t dextrous enough to cope with intermittent 4G.
On with the show.
I finally got round to reading Paul Ford’s latest piece
in Wired. As always, it’s worth the time. I’ve mentioned before that we’re living in a golden age for writing about technology and Ford is consistently one of the most enlightened, humble and interesting writers out there.
Fun fact: he wrote a very prescient novel
that called out hipster archetypes in 2005. Back then, you could go to a cafe, a coffee cost £2 and the room wasn’t lit with industrial lighting. It was a simpler time.
