Hi! I’m Gerben Dollen, smart capo at @TypeMafia. I really enjoy sharing my on- and offline observations. Every now and then I write my musings on design, typography in particular, and other interesting things I come across.

Spent an intense week in Hong Kong, fully packed with offline amusement. The city of blinding lights is an interesting mix of labyrinths connecting sidewalks with boring shopping malls, immense tall wet alleys, some art deco(ish) architecture, urban jungles where multiple layers highway intersect tropic vegetation, and so on. I learned about colour while walking the streets at day and night and I’m glad to see a city embraces fluorescent tones so much. Hope to bring this into practise myself one day (both the colour spectrum and design for neon signs).
The residents obviously have a different mindset about hygiene, but it turns out they actually have the second best life expectancy. Where should I start, dim sum for breakfast every day?
Next stop: Beijing 🇨🇳✌
