One Hundred Issues!
Let’s throw back to Issue Nº1: essentially incepted as a sounding board for the freelance work I was doing back then. I was preparing for Eurobike just like I am now. (who’s going?)
And a year later: Nº50. Even more grateful now than I was then. But for the most part, not much has changed otherwise.
I receive so much positive feedback each issue (2-3 messages on average) & from others when I encounter subscribers when traveling that I feel like the formula is working. Something I can improve? Hit reply!
Rather than rework the recipe for our 100th weekly newsletter, I looked up some ‘100’ themed quotes!
If there were only one truth, you couldn’t paint a hundred canvases on the same theme. - Pablo Picasso
With a hundred ways to do a dozen things, why not try it all? - Julian Casablancas
The opportunity for doing mischief is found a hundred times a day, and of doing good once in a year. - Voltaire
Life’s a tough proposition, and the first hundred years are the hardest. - Wilson Mizner
Nothing is illegal if one hundred businessmen decide to do it. - Andrew Young
Now more than ever, thank you for reading!
with appreciation,
Jon

Final thoughts before TCR No 5 - and why I will not be racing it
At the time of writing it is exactly 72 hours until I will stand on the Muur in Geraardsbergen (Belgium), together with some 300 other crazies, and set off into the night to ride the Transcontinental Race No. 5. About 4000 km across Europe, visiting 4 iconic climbs as checkpoints and finishing in Meteora, Greece. No fixed route, self supported and the clock never stops – whoever gets there first, wins.
We Don't Need Bikes For Women
In a move directly contrasting years of their own marketing, Specialized recently (and quietly) announced their departure from a womens-specific geometry platform.

Mistake #1: Thinking that Direct Sales is for losers
Starting over I’d also focus on direct sales sooner. The feedback from each rejection is so much more powerful than just having your online sales pitch silently rejected hundreds of times each week. -Nathan Barry of ConvertKit

A kind of Great Divide made in France.
Next week, from August 4th to 19th 2017, The French Divide will kickoff! Across more than 2100 km in no more than 15 days & without assistance on the most beautiful gravel roads and mountain biking trails in France. The route follows the mythical route of Santiago de Compostela as much as possible.
Fun fact: Celine of Vera Cycling that made our caps, helps put this event on!
Here's to doing what can't be done by anyone this week!
