Hacking For Humanity
Hackers get a bad rap, but bringing down online banks and governments isn’t all they’re capable off. Hackers from #OurMine switched up the Wikileaks homepage, with a note saying “your security is low”. Wikileaks spoke out about the supposedly “fake news” on their twitter, claiming it was all an illusion, through what’s called DSN hikacking.

The Zuckerberg Effect
We all have that one person on Facebook that has pushed things just way too far, and we never want to hear from them again. Unfortunately for Facebook users, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan cannot be blocked on Facebook. Due to a unique error message, the Facebook founder and his wife are un-blockable, so you can never escape their notifications permanently.
We could use a few of these to deflect all the Zuckerberg philosophying on his page.

BB-Hate
The favourite Star Wars character, BB-8, has been announced it will be receiving an evil twin in The Last Jedi. The adorable rolling companion we’ve learned to love will have a doppelgänger named BB-9E with a more sinister background in the new Star Wars movie. We’re pretty sure we will love it anyway.

A $7,000 Blue Check Mark
The coveted Verified status on Instagram is any influencer’s dream. However, the elusive status is tough to gain, as Instagram only grants it to pages they have deemed are under risk of impersonation. One Instagram employee has been selling the status for up to $7,000 to those willing to pay the price (illegally, of course).
That little blue check is pretty highly coveted, but worth seven grand??

A Busy Month At Facebook HQ
While most of us have been soaking in the vitamin D, Facebook has had no chill. So much has changed in the month of August that we’ve figured a mini recap is necessary. Facebook has upset over 85% of its users by updating its newsfeed settings to autoplaying videos with sound on. The inconvenience became old news once they’ve announced the latest in-app camera feature, allowing users to record and create GIFs and 360-photo for instant sharing. Test it out for yourself by swiping right on your newsfeed. Facebook also announced this month that it will start penalizing links to sites that are not optimized for mobile viewing, so beware! And lastly, prepare to get cozy this month with Facebook’s new Watch tab with over 30 original series, challenging YouTube as a short-form content platform.
We're just trying to keep up with all the new features!
