Sophia Claps Back At Robot Haters
Saudi Arabia has become the first country to have a robot citizen, and she is super sassy (in all the best ways). During an interview at the Future Investment Initiative summit, she replied to a question that was aimed at the negative reputation of robots, “You’ve been reading too much Elon Musk and watching too many Hollywood movies. Don’t worry, if you are nice to me, I will be nice to you” 😉.
Sophia is a new robot humanoid hero.

Uber Continues On Major Losing Streak
It feels like we’ve heard it a million times by now, but yet another blow to the progress of women in tech was revealed today, as a lawsuit against Uber was made by female former and current employees regarding a corporate system that intentionally undervalues persons of colour and women. Just as these women have missed out on wages, promotions, and benefits, the popular app is preparing to launch a credit card in conjunction with Visa that gives cardholders ride-hailing credits with their purchases. The question really is, will the card fail or flourish in light of the lawsuit?
Why couldn't Uber just be a chill app company for once?

Stories Adopts Meme Effect For Feature
Instagram Stories is launching a new feature (one that ISN’T stolen from Snapchat 😉) today, called Superzoom. The new effect will bring you the same stuttered, over-dramatic style as many zoom shots in movies and memes, complete with dramatic sound effects. There will also be a series of spooky Halloween themed masks and stickers for all of your Halloween weekend activities.
Very much looking forward to everything on Stories looking like Dramatic Chipmunk.

Badass Senior Ninja Finally Caught
In somewhat lighter news, a 74-year-old man has been arrested as the culprit in a series of ninja-like robberies in Japan. Dressed entirely in black, the man would commit his crimes by scaling walls and running along them into homes and businesses on more than 250 occasions. Once arrested, he said, “If I were younger, I wouldn’t have been caught. I’ll quit now as I’m 74 and old enough.”
Crime is bad and everything, but this guy is kind of amazing.

The Selfie Should Have Never Happened
We forget that the original front-facing camera phone, the Sony Ericsson Z1010, created the front-facing camera for video calling, not for taking self portraits. Perhaps it is our natural tendency to make it all about us, but in less than 7 years it became so necessary that it may have become a sort of second language to some.
Who would have thought that we were supposed to be using those things to actually talk to each other all along?
