Instagram Is Closer Than Ever To A Billion Users
It’s only a matter of time until Instagram joins Facebook’s billion-user club. Instagram announced this morning that the photo sharing app has reached 700 million monthly active users, a gain of 100 million since last December. With so many new features and an increased focus on international markets it is no wonder that the photo sharing app’s popularity is ever increasing. Mashable
The Surprising Reason Millennials Check Their Phones 150 Times A Day
A new study this month found that over half (or 52%) of Millennials think technology has improved their relationships. And, 91% say they have a healthy relationship with tech. But why are Millennials always checking their phones? Moment Of Monetized Zen: Brands Are Cashing In On The New 'Satisfying Videos' Craze
“Satisfying video” clips feature repetitive tasks, perfect patterns in motion or machinery processes being completed in slow motion, with relaxing music. On Instagram, there are more than 286,000 posts under the hashtag #satisfyingvideos. On Reddit there are even whole subreddits devoted to “midlysatisfying” and “oddlysatisfying” both with follower counts in the thousands. The reason for the rise of these videos isn’t known. But these are times in serious need of zen, and people will take it where they can get it. So naturally brands want in & are creating their own zen-like ads, which let’s face it, in today’s world we can all use a little more zen. Digiday

Ikea Had A Great Reaction To Balenciaga Making A $2,145 Version Of Its 99-Cent Blue Bag
The designers at Balenciaga must be big Ikea fans, because the French fashion house just unveiled a fancy new leather bag that looks strikingly like Ikea’s famous blue tote—though the price tag looks a whole lot different. This was too much comedy for Ikea to process silently. In Sweden, at the urging of its agency partner, Ikea whipped up a print ad and a social post comically explaining to readers how to tell the difference between Balenciaga’s bag and Ikea’s.  To check out the ad click here.
