BuzzFeed Thinks Marketers Will Find More Success With Psychographics Than Demographics
BuzzFeed sees the rise of the individual as a new trend that should drive marketing because more and more millennials are striving to be recognized for more than whatever consumer category they happen to fall into. Most millennials and BuzzFeed readers consider sharing a piece of content as though they’re sharing a piece of themselves. For content creators and advertisers, this means focusing more on using a unique tone of voice in order to connect with an audience. AdWeek
Here at Truly Social we do a multi-level behavioural analysis that includes psychographics, making us totally on trend 🔥

The Total Distraction That Is "Fyre Festival"
Nobody on the internet today can seem to look away from the dumpster fire that is #fyrefestival. In the month that has given us Pepsi’s tone-deaf ad and the whole United debacle, it no longer seems surprising that another company is having its own very public meltdown.
Fyre Festival was promoted as being an exclusive festival on a private island in the Bahamas with top acts, glamping and gourmet food. Tickets for this Instagrammer’s dreamer festival cost from $450 to $12,000. Last night as guests began to arrive what they encountered was pretty the complete opposite of what they had expected. Thanks to Twitter we all got front row seats to watch this insane nightmare unfold.
Now the festival has been called off, flights axed and party-goers have been left stranded, leaving many of us online to speculate about what exactly went down (not to mention all of the memes). Buzzfeed

Ja Rule's Music Festival Disaster Is A Good Reminder Not To Trust Instagram SponCon
It’s not clear exactly how many people bought tickets Fyre Fest. The festival organizers barely did any promotion. Instead, Fyre Fest relied almost entirely on popular Instagrammers and models to spread the word. These “influencers” included professional surfers, DJs, and a bunch of models — almost all of whom seem to have now deleted the Fyre Fest announcement from their Instagram pages.
The festival’s untimely end is most likely a result of poor management, planning, and probably a bunch of other things, but it’s also a good reminder that Instagram is still full of sponsored content (“sponcon”) — and the impossibility of constant oversight means it’s often not labeled as such. .
