“It’s much easier to build an AI system to detect a nipple than it is to detect hate speech.”
- Mark Zuckerberg, with the quote of the century.
Memewatch: Macron Gets Meme'd
French President Emmanuel Macron visited The White House this week and something of a strange bromance happened.  Naturally, it was only a matter of time before the internet got a hold of this. Our favourites: Drake references, awkward moments, TV shows, and some serious burns. Oh, Twitter - always making memes great again.
Good.
Good.
Facebook: Making Social "Great" Again?
Speaking of making things “great” again, Facebook released a bizarre “I’m sorry for cheating on you” video. Don’t get us wrong, we like that they’ve taken accountability in this way, we just don’t buy it. Especially since we were anticipating Facebook’s earnings yesterday. Which, by the way, were well above expectations. Ugh. Since the data scandal occurred towards the end of Q1, we’re pretty sure that Q2 won’t be as generous.

Memewatch: Wakanda... Sometimes?
It’s the release of the much anticipated Avengers: Infinity War movie! We’re seeing it tonight, too. In the wake of the release, somebody snapped a pic of a less than enthusiastic looking Chadwick Boseman doing the “Wakanda forever” greeting. Twitter, of course, did its thing and here we are. We don’t even want to think of the number of times the poor guy has been asked to do this.
Just look at how happy he was back then.

Social: More Ads = Less Intimacy?
Looking at the MBLM’s Brand Intimacy 2018 report, it seems that people are feeling less intimacy with apps and social platforms. We can’t exactly blame them, with the growing distrust and increase in advertising. We know how essential ad revenue is, but if it’s at the cost of consumer confidence, there has to be a compromise. What happened to social being… well, social? How about having a conversation with your audience, instead of firing ads at them?
Try it. It won't hurt.

Have a happy National Pretzel Day from all of us here at Truly Social!
