Nasty Surprise For Bing
The Microsoft search engine Bing has been pretty much no one’s top choice for results ever, but today there’s a good reason to wander over to the site. Pointed out this morning by a Twitter user, the image on the homepage features a beautiful beach view…. and a penis. Yup, some Oedipal beachgoer had drawn a giant phallus into the sand while the photo was taken overhead, causing the search engine to Photoshop it out. The Verge.

Charlottesville Victim's Mother Speaks Out
Heather Heyer’s mother, Susan Bro gave a moving speech at her memorial yesterday that featured a call to action for all in attendance. “I want you to pay attention, find what’s wrong … and say to yourself, what can I do to make a difference?” Bro said. “And that’s how you’re going to make my child’s death worthwhile. I’d rather have my child, but by golly, if I’ve got to give her up, we’re going to make it count.” Watch the moving video here.

Facebook Kills Clickbait
Facebook is now targeting clickbait posts that have learned how to cheat their newsfeed algorithm. Because the newsfeed actively promotes long-form video content, tricksters have been uploading static images as .mp4 files, but Facebook’s team has taken action to prevent that, as part of their more aggressive content moderation efforts this year. The Verge.
