The 25 Best Ads Of 2017 (So Far)
AdWeek has created a master list of the Best Ads of 2017 so far, and it’s full of the viral sensations that we’ve seen everywhere, as well as some surprises from lesser-known sources (84 Lumber’s The Journey). Burger King, Delta, The New York Times, Nike, and Heinz all topped the list, with their creative and at times flat-out ballsy advertising moves, which we have talked about in past Daily Distraction issues! Leading the pack was the Fearless Girl campaign by State Street Global Advisors; the global hit that resulted in a permanent statue dedicated to Women on New York’s Wall Street. Adweek.

#PrimeDay tops Amazon membership and sales records
It has been reported that Amazon’s Prime Day this year set company sales records, over 60% higher than Prime day of last year (with larger sales than Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined). Reductions in their Echo Dot speaker seemed to have paid off, with it becoming the most sold item on the site, down from $50 to $35. The sale started as a celebration for its twentieth birthday in 2014, but has grown to their most popular sales day of the year. CNN Technology

Instagram Is Crushing The Branded Video Content Game

The study by L2 Inc proves that Instagram is most friendly for your advertising budget, and perhaps that the shorter video format it requires is more engaging for users as it recurs on the app. Instagram has been killing the game with its engagement, with its users bumping up to 700 million monthly! Tinder slow-burn couple might be the most heart-warming story to come out of the hook up app
Tinder still has found a way to warm our hearts again, as Josh posted screenshots of the messages he has been exchanging with Michelle over the last 3 years averaging at about 4 messages on the hook up app per year. Michelle responded to his post on Twitter after it received a whopping 83k likes and 26k responses. Tinder has offered to send the two of them to Maui to meet, in the cutest possible resolve to this love story. Buzzfeed.

It's National French Fry Day! 🍟
It’s National French Fry Day! Though this is technically a strategy by McDonald’s to boost their recognition as king of fast food, we have to embrace and celebrate our favourite potato product! Twitter is on fire, as this is easily a holiday everyone can celebrate without misgivings. You can even get a free serving of medium fries if you purchase it through the My McD’s app
