Canada Invests In A Cultured Future
It was unveiled today that Netflix will be investing $500 million focused on the distribution and production of Canadian content, as part of the cultural export strategy announced by the Federal Government. Cultural Minister, The Honourable Mélanie Joly, presented the Creative Canada initiative live on Facebook, which will invest $125 million over 5 years in supporting the cultural and creative industries.

Security Gets Too Close To Home
A growing trend in the Department of Homeland Security has turned into a full-blown plan of action, as the department will be gathering of data from social media accounts of immigrants as of October 18th. This would not just affect those applying to immigrate to the country, but naturalized citizens, permanent residents, and any person who communicates with an immigrant. Lawyers have deemed it “an invasion of privacy and deters freedom of speech.”, but we will see if that stops the DHS.

When Dominos Pizza made their ordering available through voice-controlled devices, it might have gone unnoticed. But now 1 in 5 customers who would have usually ordered through the chain’s Easy Order options, are doing so through Alexa instead.
