Truly Social with Tara Hunt: 10 Things I Hate About Social Media Approval Processes
Something that I’ve been meaning to talk about for a while is social approval processes. When I came back to doing social media for brands after a bunch of years of just doing it for myself (and writing and speaking about it), I was super surprised to see that there was a general acceptance of this idea of approvals for social posts. Personally, I think they are ridiculous and will turn your social from fun and engaging to sad and dull, and in this week’s video, I explain why that is. Disney Dominates with Female-Centered Stories
Whether or not it’s by design, Disney’s success over the last few years has been lead by their emphasis on producing for and by women and girls. They have secured the young male market by acquiring Lucasfilm and Marvel, someone at the top realized they couldn’t rely on the Disney princess legacy forever. Over the last 5 or so years they have upped the ante on films with young girls, starting with the unparalleled success of Frozen, Moana and Brave. We’re looking forward to their future female-lead releases of Mulan, Crewella and Mary Poppins Returns to see if they can continue the string of successes! Forbes.

Stranger Things Thrills With New Trailer
Netflix has released the full “thriller” trailer for Season 2 from Comic Con! The trailer is a whirlwind and has us so psyched for October 27th. *Spoiler Alert* the 1984 setting is so well done that we almost got too excited about seeing Dragon’s Lair to remember that the Upside Down was super creepy and the demogorgon was definitely not gone for good. Twitter Unites To Help Women Effected By Dressmaker Closing
Generous women are donating their wedding dresses to brides screwed by Alfred Angelo unexpected closing of its US and Canadian locations July 13th. In response, Twitter created #dressmatchmaker to link up former brides with those women left out in the cold by the retailer. I think they’re onto something…#IsThisLifeAfterTinder? The Berry.
I mean what else were you going to do with the dress after the wedding?
