Feeding the Passion for Transformation: Be it Talent, Culture, Work or HR

As HR we used to joke that we didn’t want our Controllers to have the core competency “creativity”… in order to avoid compliance or integrity issues down the road. Ha ha.
Well, that was a limiting view in hindsight.
There is no job per say where creativity in approach isn’t a must-do. One can see it in all of the methods popping up to evaluate the results of ones work through different eyes (e.g. Design-thinking, candidate experience, hermeneutic, reframing, personas, What would Don Draper Do?). By approaching tasks via a creative perspective, we foster the understanding that there can be different approaches and solutions waiting to be drawn upon. We just need to allow our creative muse to fly by (see Elizabeth Gilbert’s talk on elusive genius).
To quote Rob Siltanen:
“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

In the spirit of fostering creativity and innovation, I am proud to announce that together with Mandy Chooi, we will be hosting - in Amsterdam, on Halloween - the first ever HR Improv Theatre!
We welcome all the rebels, rogues, and curious to attend who believe HR is like blood, you never notice how important it is until it is missing. Our aim is to infuse that blood with insight, ingenuity, and fun in the gestalt of the future of work.
