The show would be Douglas’ first major television series since 1972 and Arkin’s since 2002. It would also be the first time the star of 1979’s The In-Laws and the star of its 2003 remake appeared on-screen together.
It seemed like the summer box office had run its course after the past two disappointing weekends, but the New Line/Warner Bros. horror prequel was able defy most expectations and predictions, although it still ended up below the opening of its predecessors.
Season 1, Episode 1 – Very reminiscent of another film involving violent crime juxtaposed with deadpan humor that became a hit series (*cough*Fargo*cough), Get Shorty is entertaining but needs to make itself distinct to truly rise above in the Golden Age of TV.
Season 1, Episode 10 – Claws came to an end tonight. This episode killed a few folks, kidnapped a Black child instead of a White one, and exposed Roller’s real murderer. The steady balance between the predictable and the unpredictable was mastered in this series.
