When Burton C. Bell departed Fear Factory, I didn’t know they already recorded the album with him. I’m glad they did, because his vocals and vocal lines are so recognizable and important for this band. This is a cool record, creative and energetic, even within the rather limited width of this sound. Not brilliant, but a huge step up from their last.

Bossk (atmospheric post/sludge from the UK)
Nothing you haven’t heard before, but it’s well composed and executed thick, swampy sludge. Heavy as a planet. Named after a Star Wars character. 🪐
This came out last week but it’s worth mentioning. Givre is the predecessor of really good band Entheos (
not the deathcore band from California - do listen to
this) and was put to rest, but the pilot light stayed on. The original members resurrected it and released a compelling album.
