Hello everybody!
As I’m writing these lines, I’m in Saigon (otherwise known as Ho Chi Minh City), the economic capital of Vietnam. I’ve spent my first 10 days there with Shana, followed by my current state, working from a local Airbnb and continuing to enjoy plenty of delicious iced Viet coffee and street food.

✈️🌏🇻🇳 Saigon, Vietnam
I first visited Saigon back in 2008, however, we were there as tourists, with my family, and only stayed for a few days to check out some temples and a museum or two.
Since then, I had heard about it being a hub where a lot of startups exist, and where digital nomads travel to. And I wanted to experience the modern Vietnamese life, after having previously seen the more traditional side.

So about three weeks ago, not only did I land in the city after all these years, but I was also about to embark on a 10-days holiday with Shana.
Over the first few days, we walked around the city, (re-)discovering the Central Post Office, Book Alley (a beautiful alley filled with bookstores and cafes), and had some delicious food along the way.
The old post office, you really have to see what it looks like inside!
Vietnam is a special place for both Shana and myself: this is where my Vietnamese grandfather was from, of course. But for her, it’s where her mother came from, and she hadn’t had the opportunity to discover it. So this trip was very meaningful for both of us. She even managed to meet up with family relatives for the first time!
We were lucky enough to hang out with her cousin Du and her Belgian-Viet fiancé Tam. Together we explored new areas and districts of the city, trendy restaurants, and even went to the beach for a few days.
With the crew, during our few days at the beach!

Overall, a mixture of time between the two of us, and with other couples and friends. My views of Vietnam were already pretty high, but I think we both loved spending some time in the city with locals who could introduce us to a more authentic experience.
And again — delicious food: barbecue, broken rice, freshly squeezed Amarella juice, stinky Longan, and above all, more seafood in a week than I’ve eaten in the past decade! All for low prices, by western standards. After spending way too much money in Australia, this month in Vietnam is a financial relief haha!
Yours truly, surrounded by crabs!
Until I finish editing and publishing the Vlog, you can still check out pictures from Vietnam throughout this email, and over on my Instagram profile (or Shana’s).

Before I wrap this up, I wanted to share a few of the things I’ve enjoyed recently, aside from my travels:
[Movie Review] Dunkirk
[Book Review] See You in the Cosmos
Talking about books, I’ve been back to using my Kindle more regularly — and after Cosmos, I’ve started reading Stephen King’s iconic “IT”. My goal is to be done in time before the release of the movie later this fall, so I need to read a bit more every day!
Have you read this one before? Any other books from King that you’d recommend?
Thanks for reading!
That’s it for today, but I’d like to write a bit more about Pop Culture and the different books, movies, tv shows that I watch regularly, so stay tuned for more of that very soon!
Thanks for reading, y’all!
