An overdue update… SORRY: this is a long-ish one!

Summer has come and gone — and I've spent the first week of September in Bali!
Hello everybody!
It’s hard to believe that my last email to you was 2 months ago… And since then, a whole lot has happened!
Singapore was one of my Top 3 places to visit, just before Dubai but after Seoul & South Korea
The last time you’ve received news from me, I was about to leave Vietnam. Since then, I’ve traveled to the unbelievable city-state of Singapore, before moving to Bali for a few weeks, and then to Malaysia, where Shana joined me.
She’s officially on leave and will be with me until the end of the year!

Another change has been in the destination(s): originally, after Malaysia, we were going to travel to Japan. However you may be aware of the unstable situation going on between the US, North Korea, and Japan — and as a result, we’ve decided to change our plans from a 5-weeks stay in the Land of the Rising Sun to a multi-city trip back to Europe.
We’ve started by extending our Malaysian stay in Kuala Lumpur by an extra week. We’re currently in Dubai — the first time for Shana, but my second time since I was there back in April for the first length of my trip.
Just yesterday, during a safari in the desert of Dubai!
Tomorrow, we’ll be flying to Athens, Greece for a week. After that, we’ll hit Rome, and then Paris, before finally resuming the original plan, and head back to the US.
In the meantime, here’s what you’ve missed:

  • I need to put more efforts into this newsletter. It’s a hybrid between trying to write more, and attempting to share my life with friends, away from social networks.
  • I’ve been back to journaling, semi-regularly, using Day One. I’ve been using this app on-and-off since 2010 or so — definitely, a great product, great design, and I couldn’t recommend it enough. My use is three-fold:
  1. It helps me keep track of what I’m doing, and seeing, and experiencing.
  2. It’s a great way to write more, overall, and reflect upon what’s been happening in the last day or week.
  3. It’s also an interesting byproduct of trying to lose social media a bit less.
  • As mentioned above, I’m also trying to use Twitter/Facebook less. And I mostly only post on Instagram, these days. This is in addition to trying a different way of getting my news, away from these feeds:
RSS feeds, a couple of magazine subscriptions, regular news, and articles to read later.
There’s so much more I’d like to talk about — like the different destinations we’ve visited recently, or how I’m delighted to be back in Dubai, and how excited I am to be meeting Shana’s family soon… But for now, THANK YOU for reading all the way until now!
…and see you VERY soon!
