The Corona Virus is not new. It is a common virus. While most don’t do very much damage some mutate and cause more trouble. You may remember MERS and SARS, both a type of Corona Virus. For the average person, the chance of becoming infected is miniscule. I you are traveling to where a lot of outbreaks have occurred such as Wuhan China then you have a higher risk. If you come in contact with an infected person or are a health care worker in contact with infected persons, you are at a higher risk.
Of the 43,278 active case 82% have mild symptoms and 18% have serious symptoms. Of the 42,743 closed cases 93% fully recovered and were discharged.
Is it a serious illness? Yes, however you have a higher chance of catching the flu and dying. So, take a few precautions but don’t go crazy. The media has to have a crisis to warn everyone about so they will keep doing their best to scare everyone.
