😏 Notice anything?

The Timeline
Surprise (sort of)! It’s a rebrand.

We're changing it up
When I started this newsletter, the idea of breaking down all of the trends and viral moments from each week sounded like it would be fun. I’d always wanted to create something like a roundup that people could use as a sort of weekly digest. And, I wanted to share my insights on why certain trends happen — the digital society that makes it possible.
I’ve learned that I was in over my head. I can’t do that every week. It’s a lot for one person, and I don’t have the bandwidth to do that weekly (especially with a full-time job that often requires me to work more than that). Needless to say, my idea wasn’t feasible.
I hinted that a rebrand was coming, and this is it. It’s a little anticlimactic. I know.
It isn’t a major change. The timeline (or the TL) is still at the center of this newsletter, and I’ll still talk about it, but I won’t be pressuring myself to do that every single week. This is a way for me to set realistic expectations, and right now, a weekly newsletter isn’t practical.
And now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to what you came for.
Scroll stoppers
I’ve been enjoying Carly Aquillino’s TikTok videos on 2000s fashion trends. If you aren’t familiar with Aquillino’s work, she’s a stand-up comedian and was on MTV’s Girl Code. And, she’s hilarious.
Ed Hardy trended on Twitter because of the videos, and people shared their own fashion faux pas. Luckily, I was a kid with no money in the 2000s so I made it out without any Ed Hardy T-shirts.
we're removing Fleets on August 3, working on some new stuff

we're sorry or you're welcome
Twitter is getting rid of Fleets! Yes, that’s an exclamation point.
Twitter Product VP Ilya Brown, in a blog, mentioned they didn’t notice many new voices joining conversations through Fleets, and that people sharing Fleets were mostly sharing what they’d already tweeted.
I stopped using Fleets and didn’t see the value in them for my news organization. My impression was that Fleets amplified content that was already out there, but I didn’t necessarily need them to do that. And there weren’t deep insights into who was interacting with Fleets and what their behaviors were. So it made sense to drop that part of the platform.

Thanks for reading all the way through! I appreciate you. Always.
If you see something on the TL, let me know and send me a DM.
Until next time,
