Hello! 👋🏾
Welcome to the first-ever issue of my newsletter. Thank you so much for subscribing - you are awesome! Do you want anything from the gas station? Haha.
I hope to bring you news about the Paid Search marketing world that you find useful and up to date. I’ll be sharing updates from my website, the latest from the #PPCChat Podcast, exciting things people are sharing, conferences I am attending and outstanding experts who you should follow.

Website🔥
Firstly my website has been updated. It is the best it has ever looked, I have worked on both the design and making it SEO optimised. I am an SEO padawan and my SEO Jedi Master is none other than the amazing Crystal Carter. She is so amazing at what she does and I am excited to see my rankings and page views soar after taking some of her expert advice.

#PPCChat Roundup Podcast🎤
In the latest podcast episode, we chatted about Hiring in PPC. It was such a fantastic chat talking about how the hiring process in PPC has evolved over time, and what we currently like and dislike about the current state of the process. We also touched on salary inclusion in job descriptions which is something I am very passionate about. There isn’t a good reason not to because you at best waste someone’s time and at worst under-pay good talent meaning they leave soon after they realise that they could get much better.
Duane Brown put it perfectly:

A4. Transparency on salary.

Not putting salary on a job description tells me you want to maintain the shit status quo that just benefits white straight men and the white women at the top who enable them. #ppcchat
Another few great points shared:
  • don’t exaggerate in an interview
  • the current platform certifications are iffy at best
  • test projects during the interviews are mostly hated by the community. What do you think?
Andrew McGarry
@NeptuneMoon People underestimating the creative aspect in ad creative. If you only hire excel nerds who can't write a tagline or understand aesthetic layout, the creative will be boring. Flair is needed as much as geekery. #ppcchat
Sam
To add to this: someone :: cough cough Google cough cough:: needs to burn the Google certification program to the ground and start fresh.

FB did something pretty clever (imo) with blueprint... but then dropped the ball on making it mainstream

A5 Oh man, I have mixed feelings about test projects. As an employee I hate them - doing free work for someone who may or may not hire me? No thanks. And frankly they're not great from the employer side either - too hard to proctor. #PPCChat
So please do go give it a listen and if you have listened to even just 30 seconds of it please also do go leave a rating/review.
Conference Speaker🗣
This coming week is going to be exciting as I excitedly join the team at Evoluted. If you so happen to be in the Sheffield area Thursday (April 28th) and want to hear about Paid Search ad copy and how to make the most of all the RSA fields then check this event out. I will be sharing the slides afterwards.
