Rising patient uncertainty, coupled with a rapidly spreading virus, threatens to overwhelm hospitals, clinics, and patient support services. To reduce the strain on health system resources, GYANT
developed the COVID-19 Screener and Emergency Response Assistant (SERA), an AI virtual assistant software to help hospital systems and payers screen patients for COVID-19. The tool provides patients with on-demand information they need to understand which resources are best suited for their needs and reduces unnecessary traffic to clinics & patient support services.
Since its first health system deployment on March 13th, 2020, the COVID-19 SERA has been used by over 100,000 patients with 86% of patients reporting that they feel they have been helped by the software. GYANT is able to provide the right information and help patients within 121 seconds (median session length); and with 92% of patients completing the chat, GYANT is alleviating the strain on provider organizations that are experiencing extremely long wait times and are severely understaffed.
The software appears on an organization’s website in the form of a chat window that visiting patients can use to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms and risk factors. After screening for symptoms and risk factors, the software will navigate patients to the appropriate health system resources and care settings; endpoints which are configured based on each client’s individual emergency response plan. The COVID-19 SERA tool also answers the most common questions around COVID-19 as well as provides general information on symptoms, prevention, and preparedness. GYANT has streamlined the software to enable deployment of the solution within 48 hours. The content is currently updated daily and is based upon information released by the CDC and WHO.
GYANT’s COVID-19 SERA averaged one deployment per day last week – a pace that is expected to double over the next fourteen days.
