Pop culture. You don’t have time for it all.
Hello there,
I hope you’ve had a good week and have some fun in store for the weekend.
I’ve got a really nasty cold (boooooo) but have just downed a Lemsip and I’m ready and raring to go with this week’s selection of pop culture highlights.
We should probably crack on before the drugs wear off but just quickly, if you use Instagram then please follow my account @theeditmail. I’m sharing daily updates so there’s something to keep you going between emails.
As always, thanks for reading and if you like The Edit please forward it on to a friend or post something nice about it on social media.

Britney Spears in 1999
🎶 Britney Spears debut single ’…Baby One More Time’ turned 20 this week and Variety dug out this interview with a 17-year-old Britney to mark the occasion.
#️⃣ Shortlist published a fascinating long read on the world of male Instagram influencers. I’m still baffled by the amount of money brands are spending on this - it feels like the bubble could burst imminently.
🎬 A remake of the 1995 movie Clueless is in the early stages of development at Paramount with the writer of GLOW and producer of Girls Trip on board.
📺 Riverdale is back for its third season, there’s a load of weird cult stuff going on and (spoiler alert) Archie Andrews is in prison. Worth. A. Watch.
📺 Similar, but slightly less ridiculous is Elite. A gripping whodunnit centred around an incredibly posh Spanish school. It’s dubbed in English but I prefer to watch in Spanish with English subtitles on.
📚 I have just finished reading the new YA novel Jack of Hearts (And Other Parts) by L.C. Rosen. You can read my full review on Instagram. In short, it’s a really great read and another one of those books I wish I’d had access to as a teenage boy.
🎶 Ariana and the Rose have released a gorgeous glittery video for brilliant new single ‘Lonely Star’. Available in 4K for extra sparkle.
🎬 It’s been out for a few weeks now but I thought First Man was a really good movie. Properly immersive and dispenses with all of the cheesy dross that usually comes with a space adventure.
📺 Speaking of space… Doctor Who continues to be a revelation (for me at least). The Rosa Parks episode is one of the best things I have seen on TV this year.
🎧 My dear friends Sophie and Jonny have just launched a podcast on the BBC called The Long Road to Baby looking at alternative ways to become parents. They are amazing, please give it a listen.
🎬 Finally, the first trailer for Vox Lux starring Natalie Portman is here:
PLAYLIST
Robyn - Honey [ALBUM]
Sabrina Carpenter - Paris
MIO - High On Me
Major Lazer, Tove Lo - Blow That Smoke
Dua Lipa, BLACKPINK - Kiss and Make Up
Don’t forget Radio Edit is live on TuneIn and the full playlist, including the songs featured above, is available on Spotify.
That’s it. Thanks for reading!
