What a week of debugging, panic and then discussion after the incident with NPM. Here’s a recap:
NPM, on the behalf of a company named Kik, moved a package with the same name away from the original author. In response the original module author then removed his packages from NPM, including left-pad a heavily depended upon module. This broke the dependency graph of numerous libraries and application.
This action has caused a large discussion surrounding the fragility of the system as discussed in a few article below.
