Hey all! There’s a lot happening in this dystopian reality show we call 2020. What is happening in the USA right now might feel far away, unfortunately it is not. I am from the Netherlands, we know racism as well, from the Black Pete discussions up to our elected (!) representatives who wants to close our borders and make the Netherlands all-white. We don’t have riots and protests like we see in the US cities. Yet.
As a white middle-class 40+ male, it sometimes feel difficult to speak up and not feel gratuitous or inappropriate.
But last night, my 13 year old daughter couldn’t stop talking about what is happening around her. She talks about it with her friends, she tries to support local shops in Minneapolis with her allowance, even though they’re thousands of miles away. She feels the pain and problems and wants to help solve it.
Racism happens everywhere. The system is not broken, it is designed like this. We need to help the next generations to design a new system.
This is just a small publication but I want to do my share. In this edition you will only find newsletter publications by black writers. I will add them to the site as soon as possible. If you know more, please let me know.
Keep publishing! The pen is mightier than the sword!
