Happy Thursday! You probably used video calls somewhere already or you are probably like me, who prefer text over anything else. Regardless of that, more and more apps are receiving video calls support as this feature became even more relevant after Corona.
In this weekly edition:
- 📩 Video calls in Gmail and Telegram
- 🐦 Twitter now allows you to choose who can reply to your tweets
- 💎 Some new beta apps to test
- 🎳 Samsungs’s Game Launcher got instant games
…and more posts in the “Beta News” section
Video calls in Gmail and Telegram
Both releases are not related and have different intents but this week it feels like video calls became a new must-have feature for modern social apps. Gmail got Google Meet integration and Telegram finally got closer to feature parity with WhatsApp.
In the case of Gmail, this trend seems to be related to the recent situation around “work from home”. Google Meet supports up to 100 members at the conference call. In the case of Telegram, It doesn’t seem that they target the same audience but they definitely want to unlock some WhatsApp users and let them switch to Telegram instead. More details below in our Beta News.
Twitter reply limitation options
Shortly, now you can limit who can reply to your tweets and this feature is available to everyone.
Some new beta apps to test
This time I will not share any links in the newsletter because I have all of them in a post format which is much better than a plain text.
Screenshots and some additional facts are there as well!
Samsungs’s Game Launcher got instant apps
May sound not relevant to non-Samsung users but all instant games they got are provided by FRVR platform
