October is coming closer to the end and Google’s graveyard is growing too. One more app passed away and hopefully, it won’t raise up in a zombie form on Halloween. If you were using Google Play Music before, it’s probably a good time to check its alternatives.

What’s new this week?
  • 🎧 Google Play Music alternatives to beta test.
  • 💼 WhatsApp Business is preparing to have shopping features.
  • 💡Google Photos got Lights Out feature on older Pixels.

As Google Play Music was discontinued recently, I revived a music apps collection post that was prepared by @eray_rafet last year and extended it with 2 more music players that have a beta version available.

WhatsApp published a new blog post on October 22 with some highlights around shopping, payments and customer service features. You can check this video to get a better idea of what it is about.
In two words, it means that at some point you will be able to buy stuff through the normal WhatsApp application. It will take a while for businesses to adopt these features on their side so you shouldn’t expect them to appear very soon. Facebook already have a lot of similar functionalities in Messenger app but this time it may work out in a better way. Let’s see 😎

Google Photos app released a new photo editor functionality last week. Some of its new features remain to be Pixel exclusive and “Lights Out” is one of these. There you can change a lighting point on your portrait photos to highlight it from different angles. Now you might not need to cary a secondary light source with you in case if you normally do 📸

To continue on a Google topic - have you already participated in Google Research program? There it is possible to opt-in to get a chance to access more features and google experiments 📲

And check TestingCatalog on Telegram if you haven’t yet and if you are up to reading about new apps and features more then once a week. Cheers!
