📲 A new lap of the race for Android users on a voice-social track | TC

Greetings testers!
We made 18 posts on TestingCatalog this week and got a mention from XDA, Android Police, Android Central and many more.
This week was crazy 🤯 with several new things that became accessible for testing. Starting from Telegram beta update and continuing with Twitter Spaces functionality that was discovered accidentally.
What’s new?
  • 🎙 Telegram became a Clubhouse for text
  • 🪐 Twitter Spaces became accessible from Twitter Alpha app on Android
  • 🌑 Google Maps is about to get Dark Mode soon as a part of a spring feature rollout
  • 📡 New Mars rover lenses on Instagram and Snapchat
  • 🏃‍♂️ A beta app to workout with friends
This newsletter was hand-crafted for you to try top new features and apps from the past week yourself. Search for the link with 📲 Emoji to get redirected to the right app.

Last week Telegram got a new update v7.5.0 that was already rolled out to all users at this moment. There it got disappearing messages, QR code invites, widgets support, and broadcast groups. Interesting to note that these features can allow you to make a Clubhouse like text chat where only selected people can participate in a conversation plus the message history can be automatically deleted afterwards. Unfortunately, you can covert your group into a broadcast group only if it will hit a limit of 200000 users.
In addition to that, all Telegram release blog posts are covered with a special Telegram art and this time its main theme has a reference to the Mr. Robot movie series. This Telegram update brings some features of Signal messenger that hackers were using in the movie.
Twitter Spaces is a Clubhouse-like feature that will be working inside Twitter app. It turns out that now it is available in its Alpha built that I discovered by clicking on the space link accidentally 😋
To be able to try it out, you will need to opt-in via Spaces feedback form first. Then you will need to find an active Spaces conversation and click on its link from the Twitter Alpha app. The steps above won’t guarantee that this feature will be available to you, unfortunately, but that’s the only way to get there for now.
This week Google published a release post about a bunch of Android features that are going to start rolling out to all users relatively soon.
Some of them are already available to many, like Assistant lock screen settings and scheduled messages in Google Messenger.
One of the most exciting features that are not yet available is a dark mode for Google maps. Did anybody get it already by any chance?
Curiosity and Perseverance rover mission got promoted by lens creators from Instagram and I also found a similar lens for Snapchat. There you can make a story about exploring the Mars landscape. Try them here:
And one beta app that I’ve found on Redding recently allows you to do workouts along with your friends. The idea of this app was born as a result of the pandemic and might be helpful to many.
On a closing note, Revue got a new design for its emails and this is why this one looks a bit different. Do you like it more?
