Hi there!
This newsletter is packed! Today you will definitely have a lot of stuff to read! So save this for later if you don’t have the time now. And if you have friends you love/hate forward the link/email to them! How about that for Issue 23!?
The past week has been exciting! I mean we’re almost in the last quarter of the year. So you know there will be a lot of devices being launched before the year ends.
For the big phone makers we’ve already seen the Samsung Foldables, and we are currently awaiting the Google Pixel 6, sometime soon. Today evening we will be seeing the iPhone 13 launch. So get ready for that!
A couple of big things that happened this week:
  1. The Epic (Fortnite) vs Apple lawsuit bore good fruits for everyone but Apple and Epic. Apple can no longer force devs to use in-app purchasing! That’s nice, yeah? Read more here and here.
  2. I know I already said the iPhone 13 is launching today. But the iPhone14 has already leaked. Weird, yeah? Check it out and read more here.
  3. It’s a really weird world guys. LOL. Facebook this week launched smart glasses. If you know the Snapchat spectacles, these are kind of the same concept. You get cameras and microphones embedded and they capture photos and videos which you can add to your Social Media stories. Why? Cause its cool? And cause they have partnered with none other than Ray-Ban. Read more here. Of course you won’t buy them! Unless you have KES 30,000 to waste.
  4. Also, Bitcoin fell. Again. After rising just last week. And El Salvador (that’s a country) announced they are adopting the volatile crypto as legal tender! Bumpy ride ahead 😭🙏🏾
  5. Don’t stop, make it pop. DJ, blow my speakers up! Too young if you don’t remember that song. Anyways, TikTok remains shining! This week, TikTok overtook YouTube in terms of average watch time in the US. Crazy! More here.
  6. There’s now an Atlas of the worlds coral reefs. It’s amazing that this feat has been achieved using satellite images.
  7. China is weird, eh? They recently banned men not seen to be muscular enough from TV. They’ve also cut down on time children can spend gaming online. And are currently cracking down on those trying to bend the rules.
  8. Of course I have to mention Ronaldo’s spectacular return to Old Trafford. That was a beautiful moment!
  9. And Matrix 4 is happening! It’s called The Matrix Resurrections, and I can’t wait for December. So I’ve rewatched the 1999 and 2003 Trilogy already!
  10. Also, Safaricom this week launched an offer to give Home Fibre Silver bouquet customers an upgrade from 20mbps to 40mbps for a little more cash. Took it up, and I haven’t yet seen my upgrade. I am making noise here if you want to follow up. Yet to receive any feedback from them.
