After resting a lot this past week and watching a ton of Lost and Supernatural, my head feels much clearer and less stuffy so thank goodness for that.
I figured out this week that I love to talk about blogging. I had a friend ask me for advice on starting a blog so it was great to share my lessons learned and my experience. As you may also be trying to figure out your calling or purpose or what you want to be/do when you grow up, think about things that people always come to you for, or ask for your help with. There could be some hints in there!
In other fabulous news, I was on the Chicago Women in Publishing panel
this week with my good friend and publisher Zack Price
. It was great to talk about the process of getting my poetry book, In Julia’s Words
, published and some of the decisions we made along the way. I felt a bit nervous about doing the panel because I guess I didn’t really see myself as a writer (darn you impostor syndrome
), but being able to talk about it and seeing the word “Author” on my name badge
, I really started to embrace it. And just going through that experience has reinvigorated that part of me.
It’s funny too, because as part of the advice from one of the picks below, I decided to add my blog feed to my author page on Amazon and realized I DIDN’T EVEN HAVE AN AUTHOR PAGE (sad panda, right?
), so I created one!
Definitely getting used to this whole author/writer thing. Makes me want to publish another book :)
I also recently was asked to join the Leadership Council for Women Tech Founders
, an organization dedicated to advancing women in tech leadership so I’m interested in exploring ways I can bring my expertise and skills to a new role. Stay tuned for more on that.
What’s new with you? Any new roles or things you’ve tried recently to get you out of your comfort zone? Hit reply and let me know! Would love to hear from you.
On to the picks for the week!
