Over the last three weeks, we have conducted 4 company-wide conference calls where we have discussed just one problem: the most efficient (not to mention cheap) way to get me from Bangalore, India to New York city.

Normally, such a decision is an easy one. Just book a flight! But this is Tars, and we have Vinit from the Tars tech team in our office. Vinit is convinced that commercial air travel is a conspiracy. That planes do not exist and that airlines pretend to send you to a place, but actually stage your whole trip in inconspicuous studios located on airport premises. Kind of like the moon landings!
Anyways, in this discussion we got many great suggestions. Akshiti from the sales team, suggested a giant slingshot, but after testing it out on a few interns we decided to make this a more long term project.
In the end, Emmanual, the newest member of the Tars tech team, came up with the best solution. We lure Vinit into a cage with a pop tart, and only let him out after I had used the corporate card to buy the ticket and get on the plane.
It worked like a charm.
After a 17 hour long flight, I have finally made it to New York. While here we managed to meet long time Tars user, and language whiz Eyram (whose website you should totally checkout over here), who showed us some great Ivorian food.

Over the next few days we will be attending SMX East in NY, one of the premier Search Marketing related conferences in the world, and meeting more awesome Tars users like Eyram in New York, Chicago, Montana, LA and SF.
If you have been to the city, I’d love to hear your suggestions on what I should do while here? And if you are in town and want to meet, let me know!
Cheers,
Ish
