GDPR and Privacy Policy Update

Spring is in the air, the leaves are sprouting once again, and the sweet smell of daffodils, tulips and dank data protection measures is in the air! In other words GDPR is coming and we have to tell you how this changes our relationship. Nothing like some good old fashioned public policy to start your Friday (or end your Thursday, depending on where you are) huh?
What is GDPR?
GDPR is an EU law that aims to protect the data of EU citizens. Even if you are not European or don’t live in Europe though, this law affects businesses who deal with European citizens i.e. if you build TARS chatbots that will be used by European users, this law affects you!!
If you want a full run down of the law check out this video from the Wall Street Journal.

TARS and GDPR
In anticipation of this law, we have worked with a team of experts and have implemented the required adjustments to our products, services, and documentation, to ensure compliance with the GDPR:
- We have updated our Privacy Policy
- We have a dedicated team member to the security of our customer information.
- Our signup and login services are completed through a secure server (HTTPS/SSL). We use cryptography hash functions to protect your information.
If you use TARS, you are (obviously) entitled to these rights.
- To access your data follow the instructions in the following help doc.
- To rectify your data, follow the instructions in this help doc.
- And if you want to “be forgotten,” please follow the instructions over here.
As our privacy policy states, bot makers own and are responsible for data collected by their bots. This means that if users of your chatbots want to access, rectify or delete their data they will have to contact you.
In anticipation of such requests, we have created features that will help your bots become GDPR compliant. More about these features here.
Anyhow. We have given you plenty to read, so have a blast, and feel free to contact us at any time through email (you can respond to this email or contact me directly at ish@hellotars.com).
Cheers,
Ish
