Magento, the eBay spinoff, now has $250 million in new money from Chinese investor Hillhouse which it will use to expand globally.

Online retailer Jet.com, owned by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. WMT, has acquired Boston-based footwear-shopping website ShoeBuy for about $70 million. The deal closed on Dec 30, 2016. The acquisition is a strategic one and is in line with the company’s efforts to expand its eCommerce investments and compete with online giant Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN.

The online retailer plans to open a new location at The Shops at Columbus Circle.

Chinese ecommerce company Alibaba today announced that it’s offering to take Intime Retail, a Chinese department store chain, private, in a partnership with Shen Guo Jun, founder of Intime. The deal, which the participants have asked the Intime board to propose to company shareholders, would have a maximum cash value of $2.6 billion, according to a statement.
