I'm a meditator now 🧘‍♂️

Hey friends,
We zipped past the first quarter of 2021. In part because time is illusory and in part because hindsight is… 2020.
….Okay sorry.
I once wished a friend Happy good Friday’. Thank god he is a minority in this country; he didn’t threaten to tie me and beat the living pulp out of me, which, frankly, is what I would have done to him if he said something I could interpret as offensive. He instead told me “you are supposed to wish on Easter you f*ck face”.
So Happy Easter everyone, especially to those who don’t celebrate it.
I have started meditating.
Throughout my childhood, my parents discussed the importance of meditation(pranayama) at length; this doesn’t mean they did it. It is one of those things that every body advices others to do, but no one actually does it—like exercising, reading, having a positive attitude and not spending a lifetime on social media.
Over the years, I tried multiple times to make meditation into a habit. I would invariably give up after a few attempts.
Then I heard that tech entrepreneurs were meditating. For eg., the founder of Twitter says he meditates for two hours every day (while everyone else stays busy hating on the platform he built).
The rich and famous are meditating. So I am attracted to it now.
Last Sunday, yet again, I started a meditation routine (also forcing dad to do it with me). Here’s what I do—I put a thirty minute timer, sit comfortably cross-legged with back support, close my eyes and do nothing. I do not focus on my breath; I do not observe my thoughts; I am not following any technique. I just sit still. (This is essentially Naval’s technique.)
It has been seven days of daily meditation today and I have seen no benefits as yet. I have no plans of stopping. I will keep you posted on the progress.
Also, never put watermelon in fruit custard; the pic looks good but it tastes disgusting.
Have a lovely week!

My article this week
Podcast: Mindfulness, greatness and more.
Here’s a very interesting conversation between Naval Ravikant and Kapil Gupta. It’s forty minutes long. I was fascinated when I first listened to it last year (also because it was shared privately to Naval’s subscribers). I have since listened to Kapil Gupta elsewhere and he doesn’t sound as pleasant as he does here.
I listened to this again for the purpose of this email. This remains a worthy listen. I highly recommend it.

Here’s a pic of me appreciating nature and its power to make bananners. If you click on the image, it will take you to my Instagram and your day will be ruined.
100% candid capture. I'm not posing for Instagram. Ugh. Please.
