Welcome To My Newsletter

Welcome To My Newsletter
By Aleksandra • Issue #1 • View online
Hi everyone,
Welcome to this newsletter!
For those of you who might have been following me on Instagram for a while, you might know that I don’t often reveal many details about myself, so let me introduce myself properly! My name is Aleksandra Anna (I usually go by my middle name, Anna, online) and I’m a fourth-year medical student in London. I run the Instagram accounts @studykween and @synapsemedics. The former is a studygram account where I share pictures that document my studies throughout medical school. The latter is a medical education page where I share tips for remembering confusing facts and create summaries of important clinical knowledge.
So why am I starting a newsletter? I’ve been toying with the idea for a long time and it wasn’t until I watched this video that I finally decided to take the plunge. I absolutely love writing and although I do have a blog, I’ve never found it easy to write detailed, heavily researched articles. The format of a newsletter feels more like I’m writing to a friend!
Do I have a name yet? Nope. However, I thought it was better to start my newsletter now and change name in the future, rather than wait. This is me trying to tackle my perfectionism, which I am planning to cover in more depth in an upcoming issue.
What am I going to write about? Well, in short I hope to provide you with some reflections on life, medical school, productivity, habits, tech and potentially any other topic that piques my interest, but only time will tell. Each week I am also going to be providing you with a list of my 5-ish favourites for that week - this is something that I have been doing for myself (in a note on my phone) for a long time, so why not share it with you all?
I really hope you’ll find something interesting or inspiring when you receive this email in your inbox every Sunday.
Thanks so much for joining me (I can’t believe you actually did!!!) and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Weekly favourites
📖 Book - I’ve been reading 12 Rules for Life by Jordan B. Peterson this week. Incredible. The book describes itself as ‘an antidote to choas’ and is exactly what I need right now. Peterson sets out 12 rules ranging from standing up straight with your shoulders back to petting a cat when you encounter one on the street!
📓 Kindle - I recently upgraded my 10-year-old Kindle to the new 2021 Paperwhite and to say that I’m obsessed is an understatement. I’ve made full use of the Amazon Kindle book deals and stocked up on 99p books! Highly recommend having a Kindle (whether old or new).
🛍 Etsy - I’ve been having some problems with some of the listings in my Etsy shop and some of them recently were sorted out which has been a huge weight off my shoulders!
🎨 Canva - Canva has been my go-to editing software for graphics, both personally (e.g. for my Instagram or Etsy shop) and within my role as publicity officer in university societies, for many years! I’ve been thinking about upgrading to the Pro version and I finally did (very glad that I did!)
Quote of the week
‘Don’t let the worries of Monday ruin the joy of Sunday. Today is yours.’
(I saw this quote on the Instagram account @laurascottandco, a favourite of mine, and thought it was perfect for my first Sunday newsletter)
